This basic Dutch workshop is part of the Fast Focus thematic workshops. This workshop will give you the vocabulary and confidence to go into any supermarket, find your way around and ask for everything that you want: the supermarket will have become the perfect place to practice your Dutch language skills!
LEARN AND PRACTICE DUTCH
People from all over the world think that the official language in the Netherlands is English. This is not true, but understandable. In every bar, restaurant and warehouse in the big cities people address you in English. That’s not convenient when you’re trying to learn Dutch. Luckily there’s one type of store left where everyone speaks our mother tongue: the supermarket. That’s why everything you’ll learn in this Fast Focus basic workshop Dutch, is applicable right away!
A BASIC DUTCH WORKSHOP
Everything you’ll learn in this workshop is immediately applicable. After the Dutch language supermarket workshop you will:
- have a good supermarket vocabulary
- know products and categories
- be confident to speak Dutch to supermarket workers
- know how to find and ask for products
- know exactly what happens at check-out
- always have a place to practice your Dutch
THE PROGRAM OF THE WORKSHOP
Be prepared to work in this Dutch Language Workshop. We will:
- practice doing pre-prepared and ad hoc exercises
- role-play dialogue in the supermarket
- learn many new words
To have a great workshop experience:
- you’ll get a supermarket cheat sheet with supermarket words and sentences. You can use this for exercises and role-play
- you’ll get the opportunity for questions (un) related to the theme at the end of every session
- we’ll have no more than 6 students
FAST FOCUS SUPERMARKET WORKSHOP
WHERE IS THE WORKSHOP?
The workshop will be online in a secured Zoom-environment. You’ll also have access to well organised study materials in Google Classroom. No software installation needed.
HOW MANY STUDENTS WILL THERE BE?
There will be no more than 6 students, so we all can take turns in practice and questions.
HOW LONG?
The workshop consists of three sessions of two hours. Each two hour session consists of:
- 1,5 hours theory and practice on the supermarket theme
- 0,5 hours student questions, related or unrelated to the topic. Ask for instance about grammar, pronunciation or online resources.
The three workshop sessions will be on consecutive weekday nights or in the weekend.
FOR WHICH LEVEL?
The Fast Focus workshops are designed for beginners, but these basic Dutch workshops are also suitable for people who want to brush up their skills. Sometimes all you need is a bit of extra confidence!

There will be two workshops before summer stop. Dates after the summer are still to be determined.

The costs are 60€ for the three sessions of the Fast Focus Workshop. Your place will be secured after payment.
